Finding Strength in the Daily Grind
“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.” -Isaiah 40:31 NIV
Hey there, amazing mamas! It’s so good to connect with you today.
I had one of those moments last Saturday morning that perfectly summed up my life. I was in the bathroom, brushing my teeth, and saw my black T-shirt. And wow, was it filthy! Spots, dirt, crust—you name it, it was there. At that moment, I looked at that shirt and thought, “Yep, that pretty much summarizes my week.” Chaotic, yes, but also full of memories.
You know that feeling, don’t you, mama? By the end of the week, you feel drained, depleted, worn out, with nothing left to give. You’ve poured so much of yourself into your kids, husband, and home, and frankly, you’re just done. And then Sunday comes to a close, and a brand new week starts. Somehow—maybe even miraculously—you find a little more to give. A little more love to pour out. A little more care and comfort to offer. It’s just one more reminder of the strength God has placed in us as mothers.
So take heart, mama—you’re going to be okay. We may not look put together physically or in appearance, but we know, believe, and hope that God strengthens us. He always pushes us to go a little bit farther.
We can cling to God’s promises at the start of each week. Just like it says in Isaiah 40:31 (NIV): “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.”
This verse is a powerful reminder that our strength doesn’t come from our reserves, which often run dry. It comes from hoping in the Lord. When we place our hope in Him, He renews our strength. He gives us the ability to soar above our weariness, to run without growing weary, and to walk without fainting. That’s a promise for every mama who feels stretched thin!
I encourage you, mama, to hold fast to God’s promises. Don’t be afraid to ask for help; ask for comfort. He will meet you right where you are, in your messy T-shirt moments, in your drained-out exhaustion. He sees you, and He’s ready to fill you up.
Faith-based idea
Here’s a faith-based idea you can practice this week: I call it the “Recharge & Release” moment.
Take five quiet minutes every Sunday evening or when you transition from your weekend to the new week. Find a spot where you won’t be interrupted. Close your eyes, take a few deep breaths, and picture all the “dirt and crust” from your past week – the frustrations, the exhaustion, the unmet expectations. Acknowledge them. Then, consciously release them into God’s hands. Imagine handing them over to Him.
Next, recharge by inviting Him to fill you with His renewed strength for the coming week. Silently or aloud, repeat Isaiah 40:31, focusing on each phrase: “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength… they will soar… they will run and not grow weary… they will walk and not be faint.” Let His promise settle in your heart. This simple practice can help you mentally and spiritually prepare to face the new week, knowing your strength comes from Him.
What “dirty T-shirt” moment from your past week can you release to God immediately so you can step into the new week with renewed strength?
