Teach Me to Pray with Divine Power
Let’s Pray:
Lord, we humbly come before You, asking You to reveal the divine power we have when we commune with You in the secret place and pray from our seated position of authority with Christ in the heavenly places.
2 Corinthians 10:4–5: “For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ.”
Have you ever had an incredible encounter with the Lord that changed you from the inside out, only to face discouragement, difficulty, or even tragedy shortly after? Did it feel like it pulled you back into old wounds, thought patterns, or habits?
I’ve experienced this many times. Often, after a breakthrough with the Holy Spirit, the enemy increases his attacks on me or on those I love. Scripture warns us about this. In Revelation we learn that the accuser has been thrown down to earth by the salvation, power, and authority of Christ. The enemy is filled with great anger because he knows his time is short. Yet we are told to rejoice because our victory has already been won through Jesus. The accuser has been conquered by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony.
The enemy knows all about the victory we have in Christ and will do everything he can to keep us from understanding it and resting in it. He knows what the finished work of the Cross means and he hates it. He has one mission: to kill, steal, and destroy. He has studied us individually. He knows our generational wounds, our coping patterns, and our triggers. He knows the lies that push us back into the flesh and away from the Spirit.
And when we agree with his lies, they silence our testimonies, steal our peace, and drain our joy.
The enemy is terrified of a child of God who knows who she is in Christ! So he brings lies, stirs up trouble, and tries to pull us out of our peace away from the secret place of abiding with the Father. When we slip back into our flesh, we often lose the song of victory in our hearts and the testimony on our lips.
But when we recognize the spiritual battle, we can fight with God’s weapons and destroy strongholds. We can take every thought captive and refuse anything that does not align with Christ.
I used to be afraid of spiritual warfare, and honestly, it is still a daily battle. But the full power of the Godhead dwells in us. We have His authority. We can stand firm in who He says we are. As we learn the voice of the Holy Spirit, we begin to recognize the counterfeit more quickly. We can resist the enemy, rebuke him in Jesus’ Name, and choose truth. When we do, the Holy Spirit rewires our thought patterns and behaviors so we can walk in freedom.
Psalm 91 reminds us that when we make the Lord our dwelling place, no evil may come near. His angels guard us in all our ways.
This is our God, our protector, provider, power, and peace. Demons flee at His name. We have been redeemed from the hand of the enemy. We have authority to trample serpents and scorpions. We have been delivered from darkness. We overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony. We do not fight for victory, we fight from victory.
Resist the lies. Embrace the truth. The enemy must flee.
Greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world.
Let’s Pray:
Lord, we praise You for what You accomplished on our behalf through Your Son Jesus. Help us dwell in the secret place more and more. Teach us to partner with Your Spirit when we pray so we can access Your divine power from our place with You in the heavenly realms. Amen.
