Mothering with Deb: How to Raise Warriors for Christ

Mamas, today’s world can feel overwhelming, but you were born for such a time as this (Esther 4:14)! 💪✨

Raising up godly children in a culture that often pulls in the opposite direction is no small task. But you’re not alone. The Holy Spirit is your guide, Jesus is your strength, and you have a whole army of mamas standing with you! 💜

Here are practical steps, paired with powerful Scriptures, to equip you as you raise warriors for Christ:

1. Walk in No Fear 🚫😨

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” – Joshua 1:9

Fear tries to creep into our hearts as mothers, but God has already given us His Spirit of power 💥, love ❤️, and a sound mind 🧠 (2 Timothy 1:7). When anxiety rises, speak boldly: “Spirit of fear, in Jesus’ name, you must go!”

2. Teach Your Children to Use Their Spiritual Weapons ⚔️🛡️

The Bible reminds us that our weapons are not of this world (2 Corinthians 10:4). Equip your children with these mighty tools:

  • Love ❤️  “Above all, let love be the beautiful prize for which you run.” – 1 Corinthians 13:13 TPT

  • Worship 🎶 Worship shifts the atmosphere and fixes our eyes on Jesus.

  • Prayer 🙏 “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” – James 5:16

  • The Word of God 📖 “Take…the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” – Ephesians 6:17

3. Fill Your Home with God’s Word 🏡📖

“These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”  Deuteronomy 6:6–7

Read the Bible together daily. 📚 Talk about what you are learning. Let God’s truth be the foundation of your home. 🕊️

4. Teach Them to Serve 🤲💖

Children grow in strength when they learn to serve others. Whether it’s bringing a meal 🍲 to a family, helping a neighbor 🧹, or serving at church ⛪, every act of love trains them to be God’s hands and feet. 👣

5. Celebrate Rites of Passage with Faith 🎂✨

Mark milestones—birthdays 🎉, baptisms 💧, and special family moments—with prayer and blessings 🙌. Laying hands on your children and speaking life over them builds a foundation of identity and faith. 🌱

6. Share Stories of Faithful Christians 📚🔥

Introduce your kids to heroes of the faith. Read missionary stories 🌍, biographies 🖊️, or devotionals 📖 that highlight real believers who lived courageously for Jesus. These testimonies inspire children to live boldly for Christ. 💜

7. Teach Them Their Authority in Christ 👑

“I have given you authority to trample on snakes 🐍 and scorpions 🦂 and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.” – Luke 10:19

Remind your children that as followers of Jesus, they carry His authority. 🙌 Even the youngest can declare truth and command fear to leave in Jesus’ name. 💥

💡 Remember: Every prayer 🙏, every Scripture 📖, every act of love ❤️ you sow into your children is equipping them for the battle they will face—and they will be victorious because God is with them! 🕊️👑

Mama, you are not just raising children—you are raising warriors for Christ. Keep your eyes on Jesus 👀, and He will give you daily bread 🍞, wisdom 🌿, and strength 💪 for the journey.
